The National REGAP Network is a non-profit, entirely volunteer-run organization incorporated in the State of Illinois, dedicated to finding responsible homes for retired racing Greyhounds and educating the public about the excellent, loving and devoted pets they make.

We obtain our greyhounds through a variety of sources, some of them having ended their careers at the tracks due to injuries or reaching the mandatory retirement age of five. No greyhound should be denied a loving home.

All of our greyhounds are profiled before being placed into a home. This includes cat and child friendliness, ability to go on a lead versus requiring a fenced yard, timid or shy dogs versus outgoing, and other factors. We also work with all of our adopters to ensure that the transition of the greyhound into the home environment is a success. We are always available to assist our adopters.

Our adoption fee is $175.00 which covers the following medical work: rabies and DA2PP vaccinations, spay/neuter, dental, heartworm test, worming and general physical.

If you're interested, call or e-mail us and we will respond as soon as we can. Want to meet a greyhound?  Call and we will let you know our "Meet and Greet" schedule. "Meet and Greets" are scheduled at Pet Stores and provide the public an opportunity to meet Greyhounds and discuss the adoption process in person.

In addition, we are affiliated with Missouri REGAP and Michigan REGAP and offer referrals to other groups we are in contact with.

Can't adopt, there are other ways you can help:

  • Don't go to dog tracks.
  • Become a "Foster Parent" or sponsor a Foster Greyhound.
  • Distribute fliers.
  • Volunteer your skills.
  • Help at Greyhound "Meets and Greets".
  • Develop an Information Program at your local schools.
  • Put an "Adopt a Greyhound" poster up at your place of work.
  • Make a tax deductible contribution.
