We have had Phantom for about 6 years now. (He is white with a black marking on his face looking much like a mask, which is the reason we named him Phantom.) 3 years after adopting Phan, we took in a loveable fawn female named Isla. Phan and Isla have been inseparable ever since. Now, only 2 days ago, Eponine has graced our presence. 'Ponine is a sweet 2 year old light brindle female and she is a tiny little thing. Phan and Isla (both a bit on the tall side) didn't know what to do with this little pixie at first, but now they're like the Three Amigos! It's a wonderful feeling to see our 3 greyhound babies run around together without a care in the world, especially after they have spent the begining of their lives racing to save themselves. Greyhounds deserve something special after spending part of it pleasing us and putting money in our pockets.

My husband Jake and I just adopted our first greyhound a week ago. Her name is Viola and she is a beautiful blue brindle female. She is only 2 1/2 years old so obviously her track career wasn't too great. Viola is an absolute joy! She's playful and energetic and she's a HUGE cuddlebug! There's nothing more she loves than snuggling up on the couch with Jake and me while we're watching t.v. We will definitely be adopting a second greyhound soon, but for now, we are very content with Viola. What a magnificent Christmas present... for us AND for Viola! :-)

I have recently lost my 13 year old greyhound, Violet, to bone cancer. She had a long, painful struggle, but at last she is free. My 6 year old girl Mistie, and my 4 year old girl Charisma (both greyhounds as well) are wondering what happened to Vi... she was like a wise old nanny to them:) I miss Vi dearly, but soon enough I will rescue another greyhound. They are much too wonderful not to.

This is a truly wonderful site. I am 20 years old and have never been without a greyhound! By the time I was born, my parents have already had their first greyhound Zeke for 7 years. Throughout the years, I have shared my life with many, many wonderful greyhounds, each special in his/her own loveable way. Now, living on my own, I have adopted 4 beautiful greyhound babies: Jiminy (6 y.o. red brindle boy), Victoria (5 y.o. blue girl), Lola (3 y.o. fawn girl) and Echo (3 y.o. black boy). They mean everything to me! And if I've gone 20 years living with at least 1 greyhound, there must be something special I keep going back for:)

Great site for sight hounds! I share my apartment with my sweet little girl "Not" who I adopted 5 years ago to help me through the lose of my solemate "Tai". Not lives with her brother "Mozart" who is a shar-pei/weimeriner mix, also rescued. The sweetness of these magnificent animals is unsurpassed. Not gives me more than I can every give her.

We have two beautiful greyhounds, Sunny and Chance. Chance, our first, is almost 6 years old and a blue brindle. We have had him two years now and he is the goofiest dog I have ever seen.... Little miss Sunny (originally her adopted name was Curved???) is 4 and fawn in color, and by her behavior it's obvious she has been abused. She joined the family a little over a year ago and has become Chance's buddy... (and mine) If we could we would have ten more!!!

Hi! This is a Great site!!! My nephew's daughters are interested in adopting a Greyhound. they have been discussing it for some time with their folks and feel that this is the breed for them. This site gave so much good info and some neat pictures as well. They are trying to determine which adoption facility in their area of N.J. will be best able to find and place a female Greyhound with them...they are willing to learn, be patient, and wait until the time is right, and for just the right one for them. thanks for providing such a wonderfull site.

I have 3 greys. Candy is a 6-1/2 beautiful fawn that we brought back with us from the Daytona Beach track and GPA. I rescued Garrett, medium dark brindle, 9-1/2 while working at an emergency vet clinic. The woman's son was going to destroy him if he didn't find him a home soon! What a wonderful dog. We do much pr work for the ShamrockFoundation/Greyhound Placementin Louisville, KY with Garrett. And I recently adopted Mike, a white w/black spots and ticking, at 10-1/2 years of age. He started out as a foster, but I fell in love with him and I didn't want him to have to go out and greet all of the time because he has arthritic back legs and tires easily. (Use to tire easily.) He now runs with Garrett & Candy and plays with our 3 miniature poodles as well. What a clown!

Happy Holidays from Bambi, a 3yr old fawn female who came into my family the end of June 99. She is the most delightful dog I have ever owned. She loves to run circles in my fenced yard creating her own track and eliminating the need to mow grass. She also does well, sleeping in the bottom of our canoe while we fish. She loves hiking too. I would recommend finding out all you can about greyhounds and then look into connecting with a rescue group if you want to add a dog to your family.

Several people have asked where they can find a 2000 calendar. I ordered mine from the following address The Greyhound Project,Inc, 295 Tremont St. Newton,Ma. 02458. It was $12 plus $2 shipping. I get an order form every year and send in on and have the calendar in about three weeks. The 2000 calendar is great, the best yet. Hope this helps everyone.

Hi, I "signed" your guestbook, but after submitting it I realized that my email address was wrong!!! I would like to buy a couple of the the 2000 calendars, but I can't find them in my area. I have bought them previously from Homeward Bound the California Greyhound rescue group, but I have not received a 2000 catalog and their web site only talks about the 1999 calendar and that it is sold out. Great web page! We subscribe to Celebrating Greyhounds, and it is a wonderful periodical! We share our home with two retired racers - Hope and Wave. They are truly sweet girls. Our Rottweiler, Axel, loves having the "ladies" around, although he can't attempt to keep up with them. He has learned to wait for them to pass by, rather than to attempt a chase (we live on two and a half acres, which has become a race track for the girls). We adopted through GPA/GO in central Florida, and we're so glad we did. Keep up your good work!

I love this site and visit it often! You are doing an extraordinary job! I think it is wonderful that the word is finally getting out about how great pets Greyhounds make! I've had rescued Greyhounds for over 20 years and I am still amazed by the odd questions and misconceptions people have about Greyhounds. My current Grey, Uri, my husband and I have had for 8 months. We are so excited to spend our "first Christmas" with him! He a joy and a blessing (his personality is hilarious)! He is still doing things we have never seen him do before! I have a six year old black female named Willow, from Willow,Oklahoma. Although I live in Jersey, I was born and raised in Oklahoma, so she and I are real sisters! I adore her more than anything in the world( of course right up there with my kids, husband!)I was not too happy with the response of the organization she came from. They would never call me back if I had a question or anything. She would bite my daughter and I didn't know what to think, so I educated myself about why that might happen. I worked with a trainer and that helped too.

Hi, My name is Beth Schuster. I make backgrounds for websites. I have a new project going right now. I make backgrounds with YOUR pictures on them. I sell them for $10.00...If the background you want has a greyhound on it. I donate $5.00 to Recycled Racers in Commerce City, CO...I have no connection to them at all..Well, I do own a greyhound..He is the love of our life. But for now, back to the backgrounds, otherwise I could spend all night talking about our baby. However, if you would like to put a link on your page and I would do the same. then if a background was ordered from your page, I would donate the $5.00 to your organization. I have made a website if you would like to look at some of my examples. After you receive your background (made with YOUR picture, of your Dog) it would be an exclusive background. I would not put it on my site unless you would like it to be viewed as an example only. This is the link to my site..Please let me know what you think or if you would be interested. http://www.homestead.com/Backgrounds_3/specialtybgs.html Thank you very much for your time. I live in Wichita, KS where we have the Wichita Greyhound Park. I have only been there one time to see the dogs race. I never considered them as pets and didn't know anyone who owned a greyhound. I never considered owning one until my mom, who is a speech teacher, heard a student give a speech on how greyhounds are killed when they are no longer useful for racing. I decided to check out your website for more information on greyhounds. My family and I are considering adopting one--but we already have two dogs (a brother and sister) who are 8 years old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd. I was wondering if they would accept a strange dog who happens to be bigger than them with a LOT less hair. Other breeds we have owned have been an Airedale, Schnauzer, Scottish Terrier, and now Border Collie/Australian Shepherd. After reading all the messages on this page, I feel more enthusiatic about adopting one, but I have to make sure that my two dogs will accept a greyhound. Anyone who may help with my question, please e-mail me!

Having met my first Grey face to face on Memorial Day, 1999, it was love at first sight, and Runner (4-1/2 year old brindle bubba kinda guy) has graced my home since 6/5/99 - well, I jumped in with both feet, and on August 5, 1999, I agreed to foster a 10 year old return, Sugar Bear (10 year old blue fawn gracious lady) and flunked Foster 101 in 15 minutes. Found out their birthdays are next to each other, Sugar Bear is 3/4/89 and Runner is 3/5/94. They not only have saved my life, they gave me a new way of life, I enjoy the honor of being a volunteer with Daytona/GPA - and working with the dogs in all areas - Love the list, and please, let a senior into your heart and home, you will never be the same - the picture on the back of the calendar looks like Sugar Bear and I will be submitting pictures for next years calendar of my Greychildren. Love those Greys -

I live in Lincoln, Nebraska and I want to adopt a retired greyhound. I know your database says the closest agency is Colorado, but do you have any suggestions or contacts in my state? Thanks!

Just wanted say "well done!"..I have a beautiful, big, brindle ex-racer in my home..I have had him for over six years and he is getting so very gray in his muzzle..If I read the tats in his ears properly, he is 14 years old..He is still very active and just loves to play in the evening...He is a sweetheart who I would give up for nothing...Anything I can do to help you in your efforts to "get the word out" I would gladly do..Just let me know...Thanks for caring so much..

i recently adopted a beautiful white with black spots. 4 1/2 year old greyhound, she is great. We love her so much. It is obvious that hse has been abused, but over time she has becaome happy and more sure of herself.

I've enjoyed this site a lot! The guest book is very entertaining and informative alone. I've thought about greyhound adoption for years, but I'm not sure how my 11 year old retriever-mix buddy would feel. While I'm thinking, please keep up the good work. I adopted April 10 years ago,and will adopt from now on. It will be a greyhound next.

I love this site. This is a great cause and I wish I could adopt a greyhound. They are so beautiful and I have lots of sympathy for them but I am only 15 and still in the process of convincing my mother...Your site has helped me on a reoprt for school, but more importantly, many greyhounds. :o)

Delilah and Sahara are my two darling greyhounds. I've had Delilah for 5 years and Sahara for 4 years. I love your website! "the girls" make every day a special day! Perhaps I communicated to you that Delilah is the subject in two publications...A story in childrens digest called "A Home for Delilah" and a chapter in "Hound Heaven" a great book written for young people. Both were written by Linda Oatman High, a childrens author and "Hound Heaven" is available in bookstores. It makes a great gift for a grandchild or a child. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!
