I'm completely sold. My next dog will definitely be a greyhound. I would love to adopt one now, but I have an 11-year old very cranky Westie (Tim). I know him well enough to know that he wouldn't tolerate a newcomer. I'll have to get a cat-loving (or at least a non-cat chasing) greyhound because I have six cats (two of which are rescues). They love dogs, though, so I'm not worried about them.
Keep up the great work. I'll be coming back over and over.
I can't wait to get my own greyhound!

I am the proud owner of one retired Grey and one Italian Grey (miniature). They both have completely stole my heart!! I have just recently learned that my IG may possibly be an Epileptic. I recently witnessed a seizure during the night and would have to say it scared me to death, even though I am a Paramedic and have seen many human seizures. I wonder if anyone else may have a Grey that has this problem and if they may have some info on seizures in animals.

I find it wonderful to find so many great sites such as yours that supports greyhound racing banning and adoption. I myself tell my parents that they should adopt a dog from a shelter, but they don't seem to care that much. I think that there should be more advertising to adopt animals in shelters, especially the ones that have been exploited because they deserve some happiness in their lives. Thank you and keep on truckin'.

I, too, am affiliated with animal rescue of sight hounds... mainly Affies right now. I have a leash-collar combo that I would like to "show" you. It was originally designed for Greys... they can't get out of it and it won't hurt their necks, etc. It is fully lined with sheepskin. Rather than leave a long message, I will appreciate a "land" address where I can send you a Flyer and wholesale price sheet... and if you're interested a sample of the Leash-Collar Combo for a $5 S&H fee. Please be assured that this product is well worth the "looking." AND, a part of all my proceeds from the sale of this product goes to NW Pet Protectors, a rescue group out of Portland, OR. AND, yes, I am definitely an animal lover!!! In fact, I'm sure that my home has an invisible neon sign saying "Animal Lover, Come On In"! And, yes, I have a big place in my heart for the sight hound group in particular... but all animals in general. Without them life wouldn't be worth living! Thank the Gods for people in Animal Rescue!!! Let us all keep up the great work!!!

Thanks to this web page, I found a local rescue organisation and adpted my very first dog. Foxy is seven years old and very house trained. She is so laid back, that everyone who meets her just has to love her, even her ver, hugs and kisses her every time they meet, which is quite often as Foxy and I walk past the vet hospital every day. Foxy always tries to turn in there just to see everyone and be sociable. Apart from getting used to me and my routines, she has only given me one problem. She has dislocated her hind leg little toe at least five times in one week. After a bit of coaching by the vet, I am now able to re-set the toe without too much trouble. Keep her quiet for a week or two was the vet's advice. Has anyone ever tried to keep a Greyhound quiet? Any advice would be welcome. Should I try to bind up her toe? Foxy walked into my house and into my heart at the same time. She is a wonderful addition to my house which was so lonely after my wife died. Thank you to the people who replied to my first entry into this guest book

We adopted our first greyhound, Ginger, this past June. I can't tell you how magnificent she is. She settled in with our 13 year old Lab and 4 year old mix breed without missing a beat. We have been so taken with her that we are now working on adopting her sister, Moon. Only one problem - we are in New Orleans and Moon is in Kansas. We are working with the owner to arrange transportation but so far it has not worked out. (Ginger had already been moved to the Mobile track when GPA/LA rescued her). Any suggestions anyone?

I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE YOUR WEBSITE. I JUST LOVE GREYHOUNDS. I THINK THEY ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BREED OF DOG. 10 YEARS AGO, I BOUGHT ONE AS A PUPPY TO RACE, BUT I ALSO KNEW THAT WHEN SHE WAS DONE RACING, SHE WOULD COME HOME WITH ME TO BE MY PET. SHE HAD A VERY SHORT RACING CAREER. SHE RACED 4 TIMES, AND DISLOCATED HER HIND LEG AFTER FALLING IN A CURVE. SHE WASN'T FAST ENOUGHT TO BE A RACER AFTER THAT. SHE THEN CAME HOME WITH US. I HAVE HAD OTHER TYPES OF DOGS IN MY LIFE, BUT NEVER ONE QUITE LIKE A GREYHOUND. THEY HAVE A HEART OF GOLD. SHE LIVED A VERY HAPPY LIFE WITH US UNTIL THIS PAST SEPTEMBER, WHERE WE LOST HER TO CANCER. NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT ME AND MY HUSBAND DON'T TALKE ABOUT TRACY. SHE WAS A CHAMPION TO US, EVEN IF SHE WASN'T ONE ON THE TRACKS. NO DOG COULD EVER REPLACE HER, BUT WE WILL BE RESCUING 2 IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. I URGE ANYBODY OUT THERE TO CONSIDER ADOPTING A GREYHOUND. THEY BLESS YOUR LIFE WITH MORE LOVE THAN ANYONE COULD EVER DESCRIBE.

Great Site!
I have 2 hounds. Piquto Ace (9 in Jan.) and Bee Bop (4 last month.) They are great dogs. My wife and I had a chance to vist the holding kennel where our dogs raced in Hindsdale, NH in September. The track takes exceptional care of the retired racers as well as those still working.

How excitingto find you site, being brand new to the net! We will visit often! "Blue Angel" came into our lives a yr ago at 2 1/2 retired. She joined 3 Dachshunds - our smallest being Alpha! We recently began volunteering for our localclub - Az Greyhound Rescue - by going to the kennel where the dogs are awaiting adoption to feed & exercise them. We are ready to bring one home to foster and keep Blue company. Chances are we will end up adopting it! Love your site. Joan & Ken

I had heard about greyhounds before. Ran over a couple articles while working on a school project, (I'm in the vet tech program at school locally) and instantly fell in love. Greyhounds seem very kind, sweet, loving and smart. People that write in completely adore their greyhounds. My parents have always had dogs. The ones we have now are more my parents, even though they sleep with me every once in a while. But they know who feeds them. I have my own horse and enjoy her company emensely when I am taking care of her, but want to add a smaller four legged creature also. We've always had small dogs, I want a bigger dog.
I'm thinking of really pursuing adopting in the beginning of the year. I want to do some more research first. Then have to figure out what my school schedule will be like.
Has anyone had any experiences with greyhounds and horses?
Being in the vet tech program has really opened my eyes more to certain "lifestyles" animals have to lead and how much cannot be done unless in extreme cases. It's sad, crushing and gruesome.
I hope to have my own greyhound by summer next year! They are a beautiful breed!!!

Great Page I have two Greyt's, Kissy and Jana. Had to put my first one to sleep, and with only one had to get
another. Kissy and Jana are both 6, and Bullet now at Rainbow Bridge was 8. For the people who are thinking about adopting, do not hestitate, they are great arond
children other dogs but may need some training around cats, especially white cats. There are links that can take you through these proceedures. Never fear a Greyt
can be gotten use to in only a few days with a sprat bottle and a little saying no Kitty. You will never regreat adopting the fastest couch/chair potatoe in the
world. After all Queen Victoris'a Husband had them, General
Custer had them and so did Dog Kelly of Dodge City.
Remember only all of us Grey't lovers can save them and we always try to convert others to Greyhoundism (my own
word).

HI, I just want to say Thank you all that has adopted a greyhound. I have not adopted a greyhound but do work on a greyhound farm in Abilene, KS and they do make great pet but like anything esle there are some that make better pets then others. I have got to say that they each have their own little personality. Just like a teenager. Keep up the great work everyone.

Thanks for all the helpful info! We recently lost our boxer. I had heard that greyhounds were also good family dogs. Your site has given us much to chew on.
