Hey to all greyhound lovers!!!
I have 'SLY-RUDY' and ex-racer from Dairyland Wisconson and we are fostering a beautiful grey from Orlando Fla. I do not know that much yet about 'IF SOLET GOES' but if he turns out to be OK we will also adopt him as well. This will make dog # 4 in our family. I am the one who LOVES all these animals. My spouse is not to sure yet. Time will tell. Love to hear from folks concerning greys and seizures or greys with hip pain.
Thanks Cynthia, Rudy and Solo

Your page is great! I am definitely an animal lover and am really hurt when I hear of perfectly healthy animals being killed or tortured. When I saw your add in an airport I wrote down the website and found it as soon as I got home. Thanks for all the information you've given me. I pray that for Christmas I, too, will be a proud greyhound owner!

I've always had Cocker's...there are two in my family now. BUT I have often read of the Greyhound's plight and my next family member will be a Greyhound. My favorite saying is, "Aquiring a DOG may be the only oppertunity a human ever has to choose a relative". Dogs are the noblest creatures of all, we should all treat them with the love and respect that they deserve! Thank you so much for your web site.

Hey gang - long time no chat! I think it's been almost 2 years since it was my turn to answer the guestbook email. Has the procedure changed any? Are we still taking turns or is it open for grabs? I did answer Heidi in Gainsville, GA who posted, since she's fairly close to us. It's been so long since I've talked with any of you I can't remember who's still on the guestbook committee! This was the only way I could think of getting in touch with everyone.

I would love to adopt a greyhound(s) but at the present time I have an 8 year old Boxer and an 8 year old Minature Schnauzer who are both wonderful dogs. We have only had our Boxer for 2 years, and she did not have a great life before we got her, so I don't feel it would be fair to bring another dog into our home. When the time is right I will certainly have one or two 'greys'. We saw some at the mall in Buffalo and what a treat they were. So gentle and well behaved and those eyes!!
Your web site is fantastic and I hope to learn everything I need to know about greys before we do adopt. This site will certainly give me the material and information I need to be well informed. Thank you.

My husband & I just adopted our first greyhound a little over a week ago. He is black with a white chest, 6-1/2 years old and actually raced for almost 5 yrs. We adopted him from a wonderful group called Make Peace with Animals, in New Hope, PA. He is a sweet, wonderful animal, and seems as if he will fit into our home just beautifully. As he gets more at ease in his new situation, he does some comical things, such as taking my in-laws picture off a table and putting it in his bed (well, he was just decorating!), moving his bed all around till he gets it just right, and trying to carry wooden fireplace logs around the house. Our small dog, Mini, was afraid of him at first but now seems to be getting somewhat fond of him. Well, I enjoy this site and will check back to read the stories and maybe send in an update on our grey, Sammy (short for Samurai). All of you adoption and advocacy people do wonderful work and are to be commended and supported. This is a wonderful breed, worthy of being "saved" and given good homes!

My husband and I have 3 greyhounds, Spike, Roxy and Duke which we adopted at Lake Geneva Race Track in Wisconsin. They are a wonderful addition to our family. We have had several breeds in our life, but the greyhound is the healthiest, most loving, and easy to live with breed we have ever had. Most everyone we know, that had adopted one, adopted another. Hi, Everyone: Well - I finally got a companion for ISIS - my red brindle bitch. Enter GUNSLINGER - totally black male - two years old and off the track for less than a month. He's been with us for eight hours and so far all is going well. It took ISIS a while to develop her present personality - it will be interesting to see how things develop with the two of them. At this point they seem to almost ignore each other. I think she is waiting for him to go home after a play date. Boy is she going to be surprised when she finds he's still here for breakfast. The only problem I've noticed with him is that he wags his tail so much that he has it raw from hitting things. His "foster" family took him to the vet and it was wrapped for a few days. Now the vet suggests leaving it open for the air to heal it. Does anyone have any suggestions on this situation????? I've been dusting it with some Vet. surgical powder.

What a difference a month or two makes! Our daughter adopted 2-year old Dee from the San Antonio chapter of Greyhound Pets of America. Having a 'granddog' has been a super experience, even with a Boston Terrier and a cat.
Today I put down the application and down payment for Zady's (a 2 1/2 year old Fawn) future.
Just can't get over the calm, relaxed, shy, almost joking easy-going nature -- which I'm certain I will find to be relaxing and enjoyable. The future seems a little bit easier to take knowing Zady's coming into our lives in a few days.

I've joined the ranks of the many out there smitten by their greyhounds and can't get enough! I've had my baby, Nova, for 2 months now and she is pure joy!! Aside from being sleek and sexy, sweet and gentle, she is remarkably smart! Someone told me the hounds were't too bright. Well, I disagree. Maybe mine is up there in the top hound IQ's, but there's got to be other very smart ones out there. I'd like to know what others think about greyhound intelligence. So people out there thinking about adopting....What are you waiting for? Do it today! Your life will be forever enriched.

We owned a greyhound named Moka. He was a joy. We had him about 8 years. He died of cancer after an operation. He was about eleven. He was similar in color to a deer and stood 29 inches at the shoulders. We adopted him from an organization called greyhounds as pets in Colorado. He loved children, cats, milk bonds and pasta. Moka would actually smile when he was happy. For anyone considering a lovable, clean large dog there is nothing like a greyhound. We will miss your smiling face Moka!

I have been considering getting a dog for many years, but the size of my home has not allowed it. I am hoping to build a house within the next few years, and I would love to have a greyhound to compliment my current menagerie. They're beautiful and noble creatures, and they deserve the best we can give. I run an Iguana rescue (reptiles) as space allows - my house can only hold about 6 iguanas without kicking me out to live under the porch! With a larger house and a separate reptile facility, I would be able to share my living space with a greyhound and my two aloof cats. 6 of my 10 animals in the house were rescues from various places.
On a side note: if anyone wants to adopt an iguana, please let me know!

We adopted Selena, a 3-year-old, last January. It's taken her some time to loosen up, but now
she's a hilarious and silly dog. She loves people, our other dog, and treats.
She's really a stitch when she's being goofy.

hi! Im here to tell my quick story of my greyhound BISMARK! Almost 2 years have gone by since I adopted my
best buddy BISMARK. He was hurt at the foster home by scrapping himself 2 days before his homecoming. he then at the foster home licked at his front leg all night and had almost exposed the bone.Being very cautious he could not come to live with us for another week. given the option to pick another dog, I declined. I had already become attached to this dog. Finally he came to live with
us.I gave him extra special care but his leg did not seem to heal. by this time I was going to a seconed vet wondering why his leg was not getting better. he
would almost constantly lick his leg. also starting to pick at his other leg to.then the mange happened! feeling very frustrated I again went to a third vet with bismarks problems. this was a very expensive third vet and we got no results there either. Finally we found a vet that suggested we do ALLERGY testing. Right away he said with his background and all the test we had already done, that he felt it was worth a try. Sure enough he has SEVERE ALLERGYS. Right away we changed his food to EUCANUBA F P RESPONSE. WOW what a difference. then we had him tested for all allergys. Turns out he's allergic to trees, grass, all carbohydrate food and much more! Im gratful to DR.JEFF FOLTZ for helping me to keep my greyhound, and my boss for giving me more days to work to pay for all
my dogs tests etc. Please help me make my story available to pet owners like myself that has a problem such as my dog had,so they can look into this before
spending thousands of dollars. my greyhound had no energy, no affection to give and just was not normal. Other people would ask me if my dog played and the
answer was no. I spent alot of time on him trying to make him like other greyhounds but with his allergys, I guess he never felt normal. Now he is very normal. He runs and plays, he's very lovable and loves all his toys I bought him when he was sick! I just wish with all my research that I would of read something like this on here to point me in the allergy direction. Dont ever give up ! Thats my motto!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for listening.

This is a "must see" for all greyhound owners/lovers. Thanks for putting it all together. I've had Mickey-Dale for about a month now. Don't know what I did without him! I've had many other breeds of dogs, but the greyhound is by far my preferred choice. Why were they kept a secret from me? Anyway, I am looking forward to many years of happiness with my new buddie!

Your Web page is such a wonderful idea. We are proud owners of Piper. A 6 yr. old Beautiful white & fawn colored Greyhound. We've had him for almost 4 years, and he is the most loveable, sweet, guiet, and obiedient dog. Our lives are busy with 2 children, and he fits right in with everything we do. There is no doubt that a second Greyhound will be in our future before to long. I hope these notes encourage others to seek out information and adoptions. These beautiful creatures need our love and help.

I adopted my first greyhound nearly 2 years ago crackers
He was a special needs dog and never did race, but he won my heart the first time I laid eyes on him. The addiction
started then because once you have one you want more they look so good in pairs.Well crackers taught me alot to. We had to have patience with and him it took time but he was worth every minute.Crackers is a large beautiful dark brindle male,he's so wonderful! Well
I wanted more(greyhounds that is) my husband was a little hard to convience,
But there was hope, I told him that we could just foster and then when we found one we liked we would adopt. Enter
Mindy, a tiny little black and white female with eyes so soulful she took all of 1 second to melt my heart probably
5 to melt his so now we have 4 dogs oh! I forget to mention we have a german shepard (female), and at the time a black great dane (we lose him to bloat 6 mos. ago)and he is greatly missed. Also 3 cats. we dont use the couch much any more,it's theirs. They have their own room but also sleep with us. I want to thank A.A.G.I. for my 4 legged angels that We have been Blessed With. I will only have greyhounds now, I've been spoiled We love our babies And thank you for this wonderful web site. We do
alot of P.R. work its so much fun and Mindy and Crackers love seeing all their friends.

I don't have any questions just a great big thank you for having such a great web site and for supporting such a wonderful breed. I am always surprised when people come up to me and thank me for adopting a greyhound. They do not know how much these wonderful pups give back to all who have adopted them. I adopted my first boy Dea's Dynamo in March 19997 and my second, Akins Country in May 1997. What wonderful boys they are, they are both so loving. We do alot of PR for our organization; Arizozna Adopt A Greyhound, Inc. fondly known as AAGI. I love showing off what beautiful boys I have. They have truly filled my life with joy and happiness and unconditional love. Thank you for this wonderful web site and for your even more wonderful Celebrating Greyhounds, the magazine. I always read it cover to cover.
