Great site--love the pictures. We want to adopt a greyhound when our older Lab mix is gone. We're afraid she would not adjust well to another dog.

I've thought about adopting a greyhound for years, but until recently I haven't lived in an area that I thought would be good for a greyhound. Now I live in a rural area & have "plenty" of area for running & playing. I take my small "dust mop" walking in the mornings, but he'd rather not go with me later. To bad, he misses some of the most beautiful times of the day.

We just adopted our first (not to be the last) Grey. His name is Cruise and he is a beautiful fawn. He is now asleep on the floor and waiting to be woke up for dinner. We love him dearly and he has made himself at home on the first day, Now when he fully accepts Peekie our cat, everything will be great. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Nancy

I had a beautiful rescue lurcher called Rads, and she died last November. My whole family was terribly upset. My mum and dad decided they could no longer come home to a dogless house and they have rescued a beautiful greyhound who had been abandoned, tied to an oil drum, at the top of a mountain in Wales. They have called him Chance. We all love him very much, he is at last beginning to trust people again after his terrible ordeal.... but he will never lose his physical scars. Me, I wait patiently until I know what I'm doing with my job and stuff, I couldn't possibly adopt another dog yet, not until I know that I have enough time to give. Greyhounds are THE most wonderful dogs, greyhound rescue organisations all over the world, keeep up the good work

I do not have a Greyhound yet! I'm still in the research side of things. But I have pretty much made up my mind, of course to go ahead with the adoption. The breed seems perfect however, I live in a cold climate for 6 months of the year with alot of snow. My question and concern to greyhound parents in this climate is, how do they fare in the cold. PLease anyone respond, I would truly appriciate the information. Love the site and the breed!! One more questions. I have a white ferret. Will my ferret and greyhound survive together?

Greyt site! It is refreshing and inspiring to see that so many people have been touched by this breed! I had always admired this breed and adopted Amarillo in 1991. She was the sweetest! January will be the one year mark of her passing from lupus - it was crushing to see such braveness in her amount of suffering. . .has anyone else had this experience with their greyhounds? Since then, we have fostered "Rachel" who now lives in a super home. Javalla (3 yr old) and Apollo (12 yr old) now reside here along with long-timer Damian (Labx), cats, chickens, horses, donkeys, etc. They are the best!! All the critters make regular visits to the nursing homes and parades to help promote the breed and spread their cheer. Happy Thanksgiving!

GREYHOUND IN NEED!
I adopted a 10 year old greyhound 7 years ago. Moka is a beautiful dog. He is fawn in color and large for a greyhound. He is need of surgery to remove a tumor. The cost of surgery is about $800.00. We cannot go ahead with the surgery because we do not have all the funds to pay the vet. If anyone can provide contributions or can provide information on sources of funds available Moka would very much appreciate your caring. I live in Denver, CO. Please e-mail me ASAP!

I met four wondeful Greyhounds at a dog show not too long ago.
They were retired racers and live in our area. I had read

wait to have one join me and my lab, Molly, at our home!
Molly is excited about the prospect of a new friend to

My husband and I just adopted a 3-year old female brindle (Brandy) on 8 November from a gh rescue where we live in High Wycombe, England. She is wonderful!! We have a 2-year old male Standard Schnauser (Bailey), who was put in his place immediately!! They, just a week later, are the best of friends. She has also taken two our two "two-legged" girls, aged 5 and 2. What a marvelous breed!! They are such a loving breed and there are so many out there that need a home. I just wish we had a bigger place for a few more!!

To my family of two toy Poodles - Tiffany, 11 (silver) and
Muffin, 9 (cocoa), I added my first greyhound August 9. Her
name is Silver, she's 6 and a beautiful blue brindle. She has
big doe eyes, is so sweet and gentle - and won my heart
instantly!! She "mothers" my poodles, and all have adjusted so
well (faster than I expected), that I decided it was time to
get her a playmate who could run with her. (No way can I run
40 mph!) On October 15, Boomer joined our family - the lone
male. He is 2 and while with black. He's right off the track
and everything is new to him (and sometimes scary). He's still
learning about stairs! (And I'm learning that greyhounds can
reach countertops, unlike toy poodles!) We're all doing well,
and I'm enjoying them immensely - especially watching them chase
each other (and Muffin trying to catch up with them)! My
greyhounds have added a new dimension - AND JOY - to my life.
I'm hooked on these special, gentle, loving beings! I feel
honored to be a part of their lives!

Greetings from Ittabena in Oak Ridge, Tn. I am a ten year old bitch of grey brindle. I adopted Jerrie and Joe Mitchell six years ago. I've trained them easily. I let them sleep in the bed with me and then I send them off to work so I can have a quiet day on the couch. We adopted our "Snoop" about 1-1/2 yrs ago. He's been a wonderful addition. My husband has him absolutely spoiled...not hard to do w/ a greyhound. We went from "get off the chair" to "Snoop, go get in your chair." They said they don't back, but we have one that barks to go out, barks to come in, kisses, and loves to sit on your lap (not an easy chose for a 73 lb-er).
