We have just adopted our new friend Brooke through the Tucson Greyhound Adoption League. Now we dont know what we would do without her! Is there anyway we can find her racing record. We know she raced in Tucson and has been retired about a year. She has the usuall identification marks on her ears. We would be most appreciative of any guidance you could give us.

This past February, I found out my dogs sister was still running class a at Hinsdale NH. I wrote the kennel and gave info of my male. To make a long story short, the gentleman called me to get get her, which I did.She isfour and half years old.She is the happiest greyhound I have ever seen commking off the track. Dogs from this kennel are very clean and treayedvery well. You don't see many wag their tails and play like she does. When she finished raceing the day before.Rhw dogs from Hinsdale Raceway in New Hampshire are not abused and I see many as I go to rhe adoption kennel with the group I belong to.

Love your website! I have thought about adopting a greyhound for some time, but my husband says it's not a good idea because we have 2 cats(Layla and Katie), a shih tzu (Daisy) and a Jack Russell mix (Rocky). He thinks that a grey
will think our small dogs are lures. Does anyone have experience with raising a grey with other small breed dogs?? I'd love to have some info.

I fell in love with Greyhounds after reading an article
about them in my local newspaper 10 or 11 years ago. My
dream of adopting a greyhound came true not much after
that. We adopted a wonderful loveable black and white
greyhound named Erin. He was 5 when we adopted him in
1988. He adjusted extremely well even with our six cats.
My entire family was crushed when we had to have him put
to sleep in April of this year. He was an incredible pet
. We all love and miss him very much. I would love to
have another greyhound although I don't think anything
could take Erin's place. I am a college student, so it
would be very difficult for me to own one of my own
right now,but hopefully in a few years I will be able to.
To all of the people looking to adopt a greyhound, Do It.
YOu won't regret it.

Hi there fellow GreyThound lovers!
I adopted my Speedie (Starlight Speed) thru Greyhound Companions here in St. Louis about 6 months ago. I already had two mixed breeds, and 8 yr old Dobe/Shep mix named Grimm, and a Shep/Golden pup named Simbah when I heard about Speedie from a friend who
could no longer keep her. I can never say no to an animal in trouble and it took me about 3 seconds to fall in love with her. Of course, it took Grimm a little longer, and Greyhound Companions and in particular Vickie Bowenshulte, were very supportive
and helpful in getting us thru the adjustment. Now, Speedie treats Simbah as her personal toy and won't play with ANYTHING else, and Grimm even allows her to share the bed with us. And me, I can't imagine my life without the three of them, and the more
I learn about greyhounds, the more I wish I could do, but 3 dogs is the limit of the budget. I can't tell people enough about what wonderful pets they make and I've never met another greyhound parent with a different opinion.

Hello there. Just a note. The Canadian Greyhound Adoption people will
know about Faro. A Greyhound that I found one cold winter day a few years ago.
He was a mess when I found him as he had been used for hunting coyotes etc., plus in
many dog fights. He was badly torn up but with a lot of care and love he pulled through
except for an open sore on his leg. We had been fighting with this open sore for many
years but it just would'nt heal. Friday I sent Faro to the Rainbow Bridge. The open sore
even with all the miracle drugs just would not heal and eventually the infection
was so bad the decision was made.
Faro (named after the gambling game) was a sweet gentle soul who only wanted to be loved.
He got that here as well as extra companionship from the rest of the group we have here.
He will be sadly missed, but with the videos that we took of him running like the wind
in our yard will be played over and over again.
I am glad I found this page when I did so I can tell all of you what a wonderful animal
he was and I will again adopt another greyhound in a minute when one becomes available
to me. "Thank you Faro for being part of our lives."

About 2 years ago my husband and I rescued a Greyhound and named him McGinty. We couldn't help but love him to distraction. Less than a week ago we had to have him put to sleep due to liver disease.
I decided to have a look on the net to find out some more about the breed and I found your website.
I had to smile, laugh and even shed a few tears at how his traits were like those you have written about.
If we were to have another dog, then we would certainly have another Greyhound. I will keep your site bookmarked to see any changes. Also, if the time arises and we decide to adopt, we will be in touch.
Thank you for this site,
Kind Regards,

About a month ago I adopted my first Greyhound from Greyhound Placement of Ohio. "Buddy" is doing great and has been a wonderful addition to my family. Karen Teplitzky is the head of the adoption agency and she was fantastic to wo
rk with. She is a professional dog (people) trainer and was a big help during Buddy's adjustment period. Prior to contacting Ohio Greyhound Placement Inc., I had contacted two different agencies in Ohio. The one agency never responded to my application
and the other agency finally returned my call(s) and told me I was going to be able to adopt and they currently had 40 dogs in foster homes waiting to be adopted -- then I never heard from them again! Of course by that time I had been connected to Karen
of Ohio Greyhound Placement and had decided to proceed with the adoption through her. I cannot say enough about Buddy. He is so kind, sweet and gentle the whole family is crazy about him. In fact, I am planning to adopt another "Greythound" in the nex
t year -- from Karen Teplitzky and Ohio Greyhound Placement, Inc. of course!

What a great site! Adding it to my favorite places. I got Thorin,(T Cee's Tommy), a red fawn brindle, Labor Day Weekend, 1993 from NGAP. Three years later, in Feb. 96, I got Rocky(Skid Row's Deadeye)a white ticked, from Greyhound Fr
iends Inc. Best two things I've done in my entire life. Since then, I've become one of the Monmouth County Liasons for GFI and I love every minute of it. It gives me the best excuse in the world to talk about the two greytest dogs on the face of the Earth
. If I told you what Thorin accomplished in our first two years together, you wouldn't believe me. Suffice it to say that my dining room has become a trophy hall. Rocky, on the other hand, was a special needs dog and is coming along nicely. He was a baske
t case when I got him. Obedience training has strengthened his self confidence and he'll be entering agility training in the Spring. If anyone knows anyone who is contemplating adopting, grab hin/her by the neck and bring them to the nearest Greyhound ado
ption kennel and don't let them leave until they adopt. If you know someone who has an excuse for NOT adopting, refer them to me. They'll adopt within 30 days. GREYTHOUNDS RULE! Ahl be bahk!
