I'm giving serious thought to adopting a retired racing greyhound and am in the process of gathering as much information as possible. I appreciate the info I've gotten from your site. Thanks.

We have had St. Croix for 5 years. He is the best pet that a person can ask for. He is the biggest love bug you would ever want to meet. He keeps my 1 year old Terrier in line, helps with the 13 year old dog who is blind and even provides a rubbing post for my 2 cats. I will adopt another one in a heartbeat. He is the biggest spoiled baby you would ever want to meet. If I've had a bad day, he makes it better by 300 percent.

This is a GREYT site. I am a memeber and volunteer for my local chapter of the GPA and also the proud papa of a wonderful 5 year old ex-racer named ANNIE K. She is the best companion I ever had. Good sites on Greyhounds are few and far between so I appreciate what you have done and would like to say what a greyt site it is. Even Annie K gave it her "bark" of approval!

I adopted my greyhound, Reddy from Retired Racers Inc. in Acton, Ca. She's such a sweet little girl & adapted very quickly to life in my condo. She's enjoying retirement & I encourage anyone who wants a dog to consider adopting a retired racer. They've worked so hard all their lives & definitely deserve a peaceful & loving retirement.

Yeah, I finally got my greyhound!!!!! He is wonderful! His name is Hombre. He is only 3 years old (too slow). Oh how I love him. Every morning, when the alarm goes off, Hombre springs up into my (our)bed! Of course, that's the most energy he spends for the rest of the day. He starts my day, needless to say, with a bang. My family now consist of 2 cats, 2 small children, a shitzu and then Hombre "the horse"! My only advice, WATCH OUT FOR THEIR TAILS!

Good site! (no pun intended!) I have two Greys and they are wonderful A love all dogs but these guys have been really special! They do require "special handling" only because they are so fast that you can lose them really easily if they are off leash. It's well worth the extra effort though!!

I am getting married in October and my future husband wants to get a bloodhound. I have had my heart set on a greyhound for many years. Would these two breeds get along? (The bloodhound would probably be adopted as a puppy.) We are also planning to have children in the coming year (hopefully), should we hold off on getting a greyhound? On last dilemna, we do not have a big backyard. Would this be a problem? I think the work you do is fantastic. Please keep up the great work.

My husband and I met a couple at the Frederick County Walk N Wag in Baker Park. The organization was "The Ark for Greyhounds". The woman's name was Vivian I believe. She was extremely pleasant and encouraging. We're still "dogless" as of this writing but contemplating a new dog for the new millenium. This has been a helpful tour, but can you tell me if these dogs can be trained to go "off leash" or are they doomed to walk at my very slow speed??? I have bad knees and don't run......can they be taught to "fetch" off lead?

I adopted my greyhound from a track in New Hampshire in January of 1994. He was just 2 years old and was completely "flat" emotionally. Today, he is the happiest, friendliest, most loving dog I've ever had. He has been "raised" by a female collie and she is getting very old now. I would like to adopt another greyhound after she is gone and I would like to know what sex I should get - male or female? If I ever win the lottery, I will try to adopt all the left-over greyhounds in the world. I applaud the tremendous efforts of anyone who helps to improve the life of these beautiful animals!

I found a matching NGA litter registration number tonight in GreyFind! I E-mailed the pet's owner & she replied that we have litter mates indeed because the litter reg. numbers are the same. But the info. does not add up - my greyhound, "Magic", was born on 05/19/94 and the Noe's greyhound, "Sleepy", was born on 09/02/94; so, how could they possibly be litter mates? Is that number for the same litter, or can it refer to the same Sire & Dam? I'm really confused. Please help if you can!!

Never saw a greyhound until visited your Adopt a Greyhound presentation with all those wonderful dogs at the Minnesota State Fair this past Sunday, Aug. 29th. The dogs and the folks showing them were fantastic. I immediatly fell in love with these animals. I can see how they would make ideal pets for a family. They were affectionate, well behaved, loving, had very expressive faces and seemed to be clean animals withour slobbery drooling jowles (unlike our beloved springer spaniel). That was a great presentaion at the State Fair I know our family will always enclude the Adopt a Greyhound org. when it comes to concidering obtaining a dog in the future.
