My retired racer Oberon is the best doggie friend we could have. My wife Amy and I adopted him in May. He is SOOOOO cute!! He has never messed the house, almost never chewed anything, and has no bad habits (except stealing things
to get attention). I nominated him for the Hall of Fame a few weeks ago, but he's not in there yet.

We have had our beautiful Greyhound since December 96. We have three cats in the house, and they don't even pay any attention to her! Her name is STAR!!!! She's the star of our house!!!! My husband and I go alot, and if Star h
ears the work "go" she gets so excited and about knocks me down getting to the door! We love Star and are pretty sure we'll get another. However, how are they in the house together???? I can't imagine having two large dogs in the house!! If I had i
t my way, I would bring them all home!!! Thanks for the neat web sight!!! Love to hear and talk about Greyhounds!!!!

For a prospective Greyhound "parent," your site is tremendously informative. I'll be pround to add a new picture and story to the Retired Racers' Gallery!

We've had a beautiful hound for about a month and a half.
He has quickly fit into our lives and schedules, including
the other pets. He loves to chew on my Penney's catalog,
something we find quite funny. We certainly enjoy the newest
addition to our family.

I really love your site! My favorite part is the "Hall
of Fame" with all the cute stories and adorable pictures.
Chris and I have just submitted an application for our
very own greyhound. Needless to say, we're very excited
about our new "baby"! Already Chris is planning to make
him/her the most spoiled dog in the world (a serious
competition among gay couples!). We promise to send a
photo/story for the HOF as soon as our new arrival is
settled.

Hi! Our adopted greyhound, Rip, has been a member of our
family for more than a year now. He is my constant
companion and spends hours with his head in my lap. He
loves to hike, lay in his play pool and sleep on the
couch. He is an 85 pound, dark brindle, bundle of joy.

I love my two greys - Annie and Abbey, I just lost a wonderful grey named Amanda - I had let everyone out in the yard and she didn't return right away - I found her dead a few minutes later - probably a massive heart attack - I love
d her and miss her, but I know I gave her the best 8 months she ever had! - I am waiting to hear about a foster - These creatures are so beautiful and such characters to boot! I am looking forward to Dewey Beach Delaware in the fall! - Maybe I'll see som
e of you there.

What a truly marvelous Web site! I, too, am owned by an
ex-racing Greyhound. My web pages are mostly devoted to
these sweet gentle giants. Thank you for all the greyt
information.
I would appreciate your visiting my site and leaving

My husband and I are considering getting a greyhound. We live in the Binghamton, New York area and would prefer to rescue a dog, rather than purchase one from a breeder. Our only concern is that we have a rabbit and our neighbor h
as a Sheltie. Our rabbit lives outside so I don't see this as a problem. I would like a little advice on where to go to visit a greyhound to decide if it is the right dog for us.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, advice, and concerns. I mailed my application last week and am hoping to be chosen by a retired greyhound and REGAP in the next few weeks. I'm very excited! The only unfortunate thi
ng is that it took the loss of my "Kita" to allow me to adopt. The city of St. Louis has a maximum limit of three dogs. Kita was our "Sir, "Buddy," "Big Guy," and very gentle giant, mostly Akita, and weighed 124 pounds. That's 124 pounds of marshmellow
! Again, thank all of you for your help. I too hope to become involved with spreading the word about greyhounds. I'll let you know when I am chosen and who my new friend is.

Jet has graced my couch, my bed, and my life for the past 2 1/2 years. I fall in love with him again everyday. If you are fortunate enough to know the joys of life with an ex-racer, volunteer your time, donate, do whatever you can
to help those dogs less fortunate than ours!

I have a 3 yr old brindle greyhound, Cleo. When we go
for walks (which we do a lot) she attracts a lot of attention.
It always amuses me what children say about her, like
"she's the dog on the bus" or " what type of animal is she? a tiger".
I'd love to get another grey, but for now Cleo and I foster
other greyhounds until the local GPA chapter can find homes
for them. So far we've had two houseguests, Indy and Chevy.

Love your site and all the helpful information. I am the owner of 3 wonderful greyhounds, Barnaby, O'Toole and Sherlock. I have had them for over 2 years. I take them everywhere with me to help spread the awareness. People are a
mazed at what well-behaved dogs they are and I think because there are 3, it makes people stop and ask. I love when people comment on how they thought that they were high-strung and find out how wrong they are about this wonderful breed of dog. If I can
make at least one person more aware each day, I feel I have accomplished something good and helpful to this beautiful breed.
Thank you.

Our life is now controlled by our two couchracers,Gozar is a black male who is three years old and about 80 pounds, and Dog-Shamdog a three year old red brindle female who is a very lady like 60 pounds. Our life will never be the s
ame again[of which I am very thankful]. The greyhound in the is the ultimate expression of unconditional love. If your thinking of a new faimly member[they dont know they are pets] get in touch with your local greyhound group and join our crazy gang.

I have thinking of adopting a greyhound. They seem so loveable
and yes, I think they are beautiful dogs. I was initially going
to purchase a doberman pincher, but have since reconsidered.
Greyhounds are precision creatures who need love and attention, too.
I haven't yet decided when to adopt, but will in the future. I
currently work 8 hours/day and commute 2 hours, so I feel I would
be neglecting the little guy! I couldn't live with myself. So, I
am waiting until I have a more flexible schedule, but anticipate
the day I get to bring my greyhound home!
