I have two female greys, Bambi, a cream fawn and Bryn, a brindle. They're gorgeous, sweet and a joy to be with. They make having three greys seem like a good idea...

A thankyou would be inadequate for the wonderfull job you're doing in educating and facilitating rescues! Our retired racer Bimini(track name Because) adopted us quite recently, and everything you have said about these wonderful creatures is "on-the-mark". The only modification I could make is that your positive statements are understated! Mere words cannot accurately describe their qualities.
Thank you for such a thorough resource of information on these very special creatures.

I just adopted my first Greyhound, Barkley, Saturday May 27th. After just three days with us (and our cat) he is so calm, and has made himself right at home. I love him so much! He selected us when we went to the kennel at the Wichita Greyhound Park Adoption Center (walked over and leaned lovingly on us) and we selected him! Your site helped me so much in learning about these wonderful dogs! Thanks!

We adopted a red-brindled greyhound approx. one-and-a-half years now. We just love him!! He truly loves us back!!
We also have a chihuaha, nearly the same color. They play with each other, and the smaller one (Katie Mae) even gives the big one (J.S.Jemexbla-Max for short) a bath daily, especially cleaning his face. If we had the room, we would adopt another!! We encourage all to adopt a greyhound, they are very special. They are also wonderful with handicapped people, especally children!! We have a severly disabled child and Max loves him so much. He even goes by the side of the hospital bed to check and make sure he's okay!!

Thank you for the wonderful Celebrating Greyhounds magazine. Earlier you printed an article about Pannus & I had my fear confirmed that Patches has this. He is just 3 and is adapting very well to the treatment and right now it waiting for his doggles to come so he can still go outside with his housemates. I have 4 dogs but Patches is the only grey. I keep saying when my alpha female (she's 15) wants to leave us I will adopt another grey. I have learned so much about these wounderful dogs and want to work to help them in my area. Adoption, spay/neuter are my soapbox items! I will be sending in my renewal check this weekend so I won't miss any news.
Keep up the great work

Years ago, I picked out four dogs from the AKC book that I thought I absolutely had to have. Then in l993, I met a small herd of greyhounds at an adoption info table set up at a festival. With all the people there and all the commotion, there were these gentle beauties who remained calm while gaggles of small children pet them. That was it for me. I was hopelessly hooked. We now have two of these sweethearts who live with my husband and I, two young children, five cats and a bunny. Our first greyhound is almost 10, the second just turned 4. I've met hundreds of these dogs and they are the most amazing creatures I've ever known. They give so much and ask for so little. For those considering adoption, this site will answer every question and more; if you want to know what you'd be rescuing them from, read the Greyhound Protection League's site. I sincerely hope that during my lifetime I see greyhound racing banned and stiff penalties for people breeding dogs to be sold internationally. In the interim, if you have time and love to give, these guys make wonderful, clean, well behaved family members, great therapy dogs and loving, grateful friends.

I am Danielle Day, 18, years old. My parents are adoptive Foster parents and had a greyhound donated to them for their service. So we were give Abbey, aka, Flexerbolt, and she raced till she was 7. Unfortunetly she was let out of our fence by teenageers to see how fast she could run. She was gone for 3 days until one night my dad heard her in the back yard. There she sat in a big pile of leaves. She was hit by a car and broke her hip. We ended up spending alot of money on a dog we got for free. But I will tell you it was all worth it. She died at 16 years old and I will always remember her, no matter where I go in life because she made such a huge impact in my life and the handicapped kids around her!

I wanted a greyhound for 4 years before I finally adopted a beautiful red fawn. We named her Lathrop's Little Lady. I would never have another breed. Lady loves to sleep on the bed with anyone who will let her. She loves to run around the backyard at full speed keeping the ball from everyone. When we go out for a walk everyone stops us and ask about greyhounds. People say Lady is lucky that we have her. I disagree. We are the lucky and blessed ones to have such a wonderful dog as Lady in our family. Good luck with your adoption. You won't be sorry.
