I just finished reading the book Adopting the Racing Greyhound and found it very informative. Everything that I needed to know in one book!! I highly recommend it!!

I loved your web pages. Me and my wife have a 5 year old retired greyhound that we adoped when we were stationed in England. He is now 8 years old. We call him Stevie but his real name was Home at eight; the way I looked at it is that I sure wouldn't want that for a name either. We adoped him through Ann Finch out of London. This past year she published a book called Pet Owners guide to the Greyhound, Stevie is on page 59. When We first got him he was a basket case. Steve would start shaking and loose all bodly functions when a strange person would come into the house. He didn't even know how to go up or down stairs, or what a play toy was. Im glad to say that we have educated him on how a normal dog is supposed to act. But even now he has his little quirks, feather dusters, flyswaters. So what if he is a few strides short of a full race he is a perminant part of our family.

Our family was very lucky to find Maggie a fawn darling, we are a three kid three cat family and never though a dog would fit in. The cats accepted her as just another "cat". She was rescued by our local animal shelter from an illegal track in Jaurez, Mexico. I am a greyhound convert and have a loyal and loving friend. Never a better companion.

Just a note on your great site. I am a greyhound lover and owner of a beautiful black and white male named MILO. Milo came into our world at the right time, because I had just lost my dear pet and show dog "TANK". Greyhounds are the most loving dogs in the world. They trust you almost right away even with all the bad times they've had in their past. I help a lady and her organization "Personalized Greyhounds" in Pennsylvania with fostering these wonderful dogs. So if you can open up your heart and house and adopted a truly wonderful dog. You will never regret adopting a grey.

I just mailed off my "application to adopt" to the N.G.A.P. Hoping to hear from them soon. I recently met a large group of Greyhounds at my local Petsmart. If you are not sure about liking a Greyhound, visit your local Pet Store and find out if the Greyhounds will be visiting in your area. I think you be filling out the "application form" real soon!!

We are seriously considering adopting a greyhound but are concerned how he/she will fit in with our two cats and our weimeraner. How do greyhounds react to cats? I understand that most have little exposure to them. Please let me know-I am anxious to start the adoption process.

Not sure we're at the right place but we have a problem. My daughters brought what many have told us is a Whippit. His name is Lucky and he is about a year old. We found him in a cage dehydrated and so we took him home. The problem is that we can't keep him‹he's just too much dog for us. Basically he needs a home. Can anyone help me find a place to give him away? Thanks.

My wife & I adopted two Greyhounds from Plainfield Pets at the Plainfield (CT) track, three & two years ago. I have two things to say: 1. Help those ladies out up there, by donating blankets, food or time, depending upon their needs. 2. Anyone looking for devoted, loving pets, (that will not be watchdogs, or that most certainly won't be kept outside, GET SOME GREYHOUNDS!!!!

Just wanted to know that I have given your page a link. I look hard for web rings and breed links that I can put on my different group pages. Unfortunally, most web rings will not allow me to be in the rings because I am commercial..but I welsome your log and if you approve, I would like for it to stay there on the Hound Group page of Fancy Fannies. Check out my site and give me your opion.

We, Kathryn and Dennis, are the adopted parents of Pav Sum Trinity, lately of Hinsdale N.H. and a most formidable red, brindle greyhound of impeccable pedigree. Trinity is the finest owner we've ever had, a credit to his race and genus (Canis). Sometimes he even lets us act like people. And Trinity has led us to wish to become more involved in saving these wonderful dogs. We have local Greyhound rescue organizations and will try to start there. Any advice would be appreciated. In January I wrote how pleased I was with the Red Brindle Bitch I adopted. Her name is ISIS, and she is continually proving that she is truly an Egyptian Goddess!!! I am so glad I have her - she has adopted me completely. Some one of these days I plan to adopt a companion for her. I hope everyone continues to write. I really enjoy reading the entries.

Nice web site. I currently own 12 Border Collies which we show in herding competitions all around the U.S. I am publisher of the largest all breed herding magazine in the world. have always considered a greyhound to love through its golden years and am constantly concerned with the culling process of the track dogs. I know the greyhound would make a loving and appreciative pet. my herding dogs are not pets but are loved family members. Perhaps someday I will get a greyhound to walk with me on my 4 mile treks in the mornings. the best to you and yours.

We just recently adopted an adorable 5 1/2 yr. old female greyhound names Nosey. We is absolutely wonderfull, and our whole family, including our rat terrior and chiuauah love her to pieces. She just recently retired from the track, and believe me, when they told her she was retired, she took it very personally. She is very laid back and calm always. I would highly recommend a greyhound for anyone interested in adopting a pet. THEY'RE THE BEST!!!

I have been considering adopting a greyhound for about a year but I want to make sure it's the right decision for I go ahead. I feel pretty confident that my lifestyle and background both personally and professionally are conducive to adopting except I seem to be getting very different answers as far as introducing a greyhound into a household with cats. I have four and 3 are seniors citizens between 8-12 years. Any thoughts or experiences anyone can share (good AND bad) would be most appreciated.

This is greyt way of hearing about the loving greyhounds. I have a 8 year old girl Chrissy, rescued from the dogpound. Now she has been going to work with me for 3 years. All the residents of the nursinghome loving her and she's spoiled "rotten". Now i also i'm fostering a black greyhound,Vista 7 years old, still very shy and observes it all from a distance, but she's improving. It appears she 's afraid of men, but loves children. My 2 greys do great with the other dogs at the nursinghome(total of 4) and the cats and the birds and the fish, hat is it for the animals.Residents and families are delighted to all these animals and are very impressed with the greyhounds, many have never seen a greyhound. It is a good P.R. for the greys.I do give out brochures. Thanks for listening.
