I rescued my dog and had a wonderful four years with him.

Just today I pitched in at the local greyhound rescue here in Montreal, Canada. These gentle creatures really blow my mind. There's just no other way to put it. They are more like big, lovable cats. My sheltie was 14 when I had to put him to rest, and I am yearning for another dog in my life. I am eagerly anticipating the day when I can call one of these greyt dogs my own:) Don't hesitate to contact me to chat!

We've been comtemplating adoption for a few years now, Marchbe this year things will fall into place enough that we can do it! How do they get along with cats and kids? I have 3 cats (17,15 & 7 yrs in age, all male & fixed) and a son (10 yrs old).

This is a great site! I'm so happy to see this rescue work going on, and I wish you great success! I have been interested in getting a greyhound or whippet for quite some time. Are whippets used for racing anywhere, and if so, are there retired animals available for adoption? My roommate has a miniature dachshund, so I also wonder whether greyhounds and whippets are compatible with that breed. Also, is there any need for volunteer help in the Los Angeles area? I'd be grateful to hear from you about these questions, but I'll keep an eye on this site regardless. Keep up the good work!

Thank-you to Greg,Judy, and Terrill. I have found some of the most caring and giving people since I started looking into greys. Who's more fortunate? the greys or the people drawn to them Thanks again, I'll let you know what happens.

Great page!! We filled out our adoption application 7 days ago and the wait is killing me! I do have one BIG concern. My youngest child id a three year old boy, and I'm concerned that he will 'love' the dog too much. Should he spend some time with a few greys to acclimate him to the breed, or am I concerned for no reason

We love your site and have marked it as a favorite site because I'm sure we'll be back often. We were very fortunate to adopt Sherry, a 5 year old red brindle, this past November and, of course, we are totally smitten and hopelessly hooked. We were warned that greyhounds are like Jay's potato chips, you can't have just one and adopting a pal for Sherry sounds better every day. See you soon!

This is a great site. Thanks for the invaliable information. When I met my first greyhound five years I instantly fell in love with them and hoped to adopt one in the future. I hope to qualify for adoption soon so I can give the loving, caring, and companionship these dogs need so badly.

1st of all, you have a great page--
I first became aware of this breed at an art festival, where members of the local GPA group and their "friends" had stationed themselves under an awning, with quilts and blankets and comforters for their babies to rest upon. It was here where I learned about the racers and their plight. The group handed out flyers telling about the greyt dogs and how one would go about adopting, etc., etc. Why oh why did I wait so long to get my first dog?? About five years went by (at least) before I adopted my 1st---Flak--He came from the closed track in Mexico that closed down in late 95 or early 96. In Nov., 97, we thought we would try to "foster" our 1st. Uh-huh....She became officially adopted just before Christmas of 97. So now we have two greyhounds, along w/ a toy poodle and a "Benji" look-alike. If you read this and you are mulling over adopting a greyhound---it's an experience that's truly amazing--GO FOR IT!!

After much waiting and anticipation, we hve finally brought
a big beautiful black male greyhound into our home! He has
only been here a few days and is doing wonderfully! We
adopted him through Michigan Regap, where he had been in a
foster home for three months! We think he just hadn't found
the right family and was taking his time picking one out!
We are the lucky ones...I wanted to say I researched the
greyhound extensively, and this site was an invaluable resource
- I found tons and tons of info on the site and the links!
It is great source for anyone who wants to know more about
this beautiful breed.

Thank you for your web site. So many people need to know about these wonderful, loving dogs. We lost our Frannie 01/06/97 after having her for 3 yrs. She was 12 1/2 yrs old when she passed. We miss her terribly but we visit her in our yard where her remains are buryed and she gets fresh flowers always. We are now thinking about adopting again and I can not wait. More people need to welcome this wonderful breed into their homes. I have never met any dog like them. They are real gems!!

We've had Benn for almost 10 months, he has been a great addition to our full household. He has 2 Squirrel kills plus several birds. We have decided to put a small picket fence in our backyard (to go with the track of course!!!). Seriously he is a very sensitive hound and doesn't seem to mind his retired life. I enjoyed your site and was able to relate with alot.

Love your web site. Jason, a three year old red fawn male, and Odyseey, a four year old red fawn female agree it is a great place to sleep next to while I am on it. Although Jason has only been here a year and Odyssey about six months, I can seem to remember what time was before. Love these critters!!

I love your web site. I currently have adopted two greyhounds, Zeus is a 5 year old male grey brindle. We have had him for almost 5 months. Apollo is a 4 year old, male red brindle,
and we have had him for a couple of weeks. We are picking up another greyhound, a female, 4 years old, whose color is a mix between the grey and red brindle, this
weekend (2-17-98) We are so excited!!! Among the greyhounds we have a six year old German Shepherd female who loves to run and play with the greyhounds and also have a cockatoo and 4 iguanas.
Everyone gets along and we love our new edition to our family.
Your site was a pleasure and such a delight to read.
Keep up the good work.

Ruby arrived 4 days ago and we just absolutely love her. She's a 2 1/2 year old, red brindle and is as sweet as can be. She and Karma, our cat, get along wonderfully. We had unexpected guests when she arrived, including two toddlers, and she greeted them in the morning with her tail wagging and kisses. I'm overjoyed and can't spend enough time with her!

Love your website. We adopted a greyhound named Eruption about 2 months ago and love him. We have 5
children, apoodle and an African Grey parrot and Eruption
has fit right in. We were worried about his reaction to the bird but he never bothers the bird. Eruption has been a great addition to our family and I would recommend grey adoption to anyone. I would love to hear from others who have adopted.

I adopted Mach One, a 6 year old brindle male two years ago.. He is such a joy. I have heard it said that greyhounds are the most forgiving animals in the world. How true. After they are exploited for our enjoyment they lovingly lick our hand. Hats off to everyone who adopts and to the people who give their time and money to these incredible creatures. Woof Woof

I currently have a almost 4yr old brindle male, Ferrari, who
is sensitive and lacks confidence when outside. doesn't like
to go for walks or get in the car. I am going to get another
grey as his buddy - hoping that will help his confidence. I was looking
for information regarding introducing a new dog into the household. In a
addition to Ferrari, I have 3 cats.

What a wonderful site. Well done and thanks for all the great work you are doing to help retired greyhounds. We have recently lost our dear little whippet Carly after 15 wonderful years. We are all still devastated, but when the time is right we will look to offer a home to a retired greyhound.

We're hoping to adopt a greyhound once the snow melts and we get a fence put up. How long will it take? Where's the closest place to northern Minnesota to adopt one? How do they like the COLD weather? She'd (or he) would live indoors, of course and only play in the cold.
