I just adopted my second grey from Montreal Greyhound Rescue. His name is Quincy. He is a 2 1/2 yr. old red-fawn male. Kayleigh, my 5 yr. old female grey seems to think that he is kind of neat. Although that didn't happen overnight. She has come to accept him and even play with him. She also shares the couch and bed with him. What a match! To anyone thinking of adopting their second grey, all I can say is that the next best thing to having a greyhound in your life, is to have TWO! I have been a volunteer at Montreal Greyhound Rescue for the last two years and once in a while bring Kayleigh (and now Quincy) to visit everyone there. She seems to like it very much because she woo-woos (sings) loudly. Quincy has yet to learn. Thanks again to everyone at GRM for helping to save these beautiful dogs!

It took me quite sometime before I realise that the word 'GREY' (as in "Greyhound") refers to the "gracefulness and beauty" of the hound. I have a very affectionate Italian Greyhound which is 1 year old now. I simply love greyhounds for its temper and "great shape", and it is certainly a great companion too! Wish to hear from anyone who is interested in greyhound. (From : A Singaporean Living in Scotland)

We've had our son two years this month. He's from a litter of eleven who his vet (who raised the entire litter when mom was too tired" loving calls the Royal Family. He's a large, lanky 80 pound hunk of love. He lets us live here and is very nice to us. I'm glad my husband found this page, it's great! I've come to learn a lot about greyhounds in the past two years, and especially how horrible they can be treated at the tracks. I am so glad that people are discovering what wond erful pets they make. All dogs are wonderful, and this breed is outstanding. Tippy has spring fever now, and here in Packer country it's still pretty cold. Although I was always a fan of small dogs, it appears I will be a greyhound owner for the rest o f my life. I'm pretty whipped to say the least.

I have 4 dogs - 2 Westies, a little 10-pound mutt, and a greyhound. All of them are great - of course! I do have to admit, however, that the greyhound is a remarkable animal. We've had him for about 4 years. We adopted him from the racetrack at West Memphis, AR. They have a great program there. We also have an adoption program here in Tulsa. I never tire of telling people what great animals they are, either. A wonderful addition to any family!!!

My name is Jacks or Better,( Jacks for short.) My family adopted me in November 1996. I came to them from Benito Springs FL. Now I live in Knoxville TN. I am your basic brindle (very handsome) ex-racing, couch loving, Food gobbling, son of a greyhound. I love my family very much. They saved me from a fate worse than?!! They love me very much as well, and I am the apple of their eye, the lump in their bed, the pile on the lawn, and the slobber on their face. We go ever ywhere together, and they tell everyony who will listen what wonderful family members we Greyhounds make. We go to open houses with other greyhounds and their families, where people come to see what perfect animals we are, We like the attention, thats for sure. Anyway you can ask anyone who owns a greyhound, you cannot find a better companion, or friend, who works harder or cheaper to get your love, and to to give you their love. Just adopt a greyhound to find out that I am right, and when you do find out I am right you can send me twenty bucks, well OK send it to your local adoption group, but tell them I sent you.

Hi I'm from Greyhound Rescue of Montreal. We try to find good homes for these beautiful Greyhounds. So far in our 3rd year of operation we placed over 200 grey's We are very proud of what we do , especially since we are entirly run by volenteers I have a very special Black and White Greyhound named Classy. She is really shy and timid to people she doesn't know but with us she is a wild thing. She gets so happy and goes from room to room and she SMILES!!!! If anyone in the Quebec region would like some information about the grey's or would like to volenteer please give us a call at (514) 389-6653 Save a life, adopt a greyhound. I am so happy to have finally found other people that are as "crazy" about their dogs as I am about mine. I adopted Shelby (3yr. old brindle), four days before Christmas through GPA/Central CA. What a great gift! She is my 60lb. SHADOW. She gets her feelings hurt when anyone closes the bathroom door. Our vet says Shelby is the most well adjusted greyhound he has seen, especially for the short time we have had her. VERY FRIENDLY! We were traditionally a small dog family. We al so had two cats to think about. Everyone is adjusting just great. Mom calls Shelby the "little pony". To anyone who is thinking about adopting. Try and find someone locally so you might meet their greyhound in person, that is all it took for my family ! Then once your dog is settled in you won't believe what characters they are. One of my favorite things about Shelby is when is sleeping on her back with all her paws in the air and running the race of her life. She won of course-she is home now!

Hi, We are going to adopt a greyhound as soon as we move into our new house sometime in April. We have been to the Humane Society and the Animal Control Center in Sanford, Fl. to see some of the greyhounds there. Are there any other gh adoption centers arou nd Central Florida in the Tavares, Leesburg, Sanford areas? Would it be wiser to adopt from a racetrack owner or from a rescue group? Can we find a male about 1 year old? Do greyhounds automatically go on sofas and beds, even if he is provided a cushy b ed of his own?

Lotsa Hope adopted us about 4 years ago with the help of Greyhound Placement Service of New Hampshire. She was just 2 years old when she retired from Seabrook Greyhound Park. She has tried Lure Coursing, but we chickened out. She likes agility, but has a little trouble getting under the doghouse on collapsed chute. She is a permanent obedience student and enjoys visiting and smiling but walks out on ring competition. She's a registered therapy dog and loves nursing homes. The rest of the time she sleeps on one of her seven couches or beds.

I am wanting to adopt but cannot until my little blind diabetic Westie is no longer with us. It would not be fair to her to not let her be the center of attention for the time she has left. I found this web page amazingly thourough and helpful. I couldn't help but notice the number of featured retired dogs that were coexisting very well with cats. I did not get that impression that that was common from the profiles of greyhounds. This sight is a definite bookmark for me.
