I really enjoy your website! Lots of great info and great picture/stories! My dream has been to adopt two greyhounds and it may be coming true this year. I wish everyone would try the "greyhound" experience. It's an unforgettable one. They are such wonderful, loving creatures!!

This is my first opportunity to visit your web site. Enjoy it very much and hope to be able to visit often. After we lost our "Taffy", mixed-breed family member of 14 years we didn
t think we would ever be able to love another dog again. December 1995 we met and fell in love with "WIfe of Wep", a six year old, fawn colored female. She had been adopted by a woman who had to give her up. We weren't sure how this relationship would turn out but she is the most affectionate creature we have ever encountered. Knowing she might be lonesome during the day while we work and she is alone, we are fostering a 3 year old black greyhound. We'll probably make her adoption official very soon. Once they come into your home they immediately become a family member and there is no turning back. They get along very well. At first Wep wouldn't play or run, but now the two of them run like crazy (no grass left in the yard but that's a small price to pay for having the privilege of rescuing two beautiful creatures). Wouldn't trade them for anything and we wonder how we ever got along without them.

There's a sadness in my heart today. We've lost a good friend, and I thought the best way to honor her was to share her memory with you. Five years ago, when we brought our greyhound home from the track, dirty, disheveled, gaunt and afraid, we took him for a walk to the park. There he met Gremlin, a neighboring Rottweiler. It was love at first sight. She didn't care how sad or terrible Conor looked. As for him, he'd follow her to the ends of the earth. Today, we learned that Gremlin died a short time ago of cancer. She was the happiest, sweetest, lovingest dog anyone would ever want to meet. We'll miss her terribly, and Conor most of all. I know she's at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for her master, and I hope she'll be there to play with Conor too when his time comes someday. Thanks for listening.

We have an absolutely wonderful female, Sophie, who is a retired racer. We have been considering adopting a second one and there is one we found out about today. He is 2.5 - 3.5 years old and is without a permanent home because of divorced parents. The catch 22 is - he is an AKC dog without papers. Does anyone have any experience with these dogs? Our ex-racer is so wonderful and I know there are lots more that need homes. Advice?
Thank You

Why is it if you own dogs and have them outside you get denied? They are pets to me! And why must other family members be told to have their animals fixed? And what happens if they are not 'yours' but strays that should up one day? They are not yours, should you take the chance and get them fixed? Do I tell the owners that the Greyhound Adoption people told me to, and then direct them to you? I AM CONFUSED AND DISCOURAGED!

I have a retired racer who I adopted back in 1992. She has been a beloved addition to our family. I have never known her exact age, but I estimate that she is now close to ten. Is there any group I can contact that can give me some of her history based on her ear tatoos? I would really appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you.

Also I would like to recieve info on what I need to prepare for the dog, fencing requirements, feeding, etc. Anything necessary before adopting the dog! Thanks

We just adopted Milo, a beautiful red 4 1/2 year old ex-racer. He is such a good boy and the most loving pet. We are trying to teach him to play and loosen up a little but after all those years on the track he is a very serious doggy. We are wondering if there are any greyhound "play groups" in the Orlando area where ex-racers can get together and frolic a little in an enclosed area. We have two cats but no other dogs for Milo to play with. P.s . Your site is the best. It helped us learn alot and be super prepared for Milo when he joined our family on Dec. 30. Thanks!!

Congratulations on a well-organized and informative website. I have met many
retired greyhounds in this area and they are without exception, very friendly
dogs and great ambassadors for their breed. I have often thought that they
would be great at pet therapy. I have two Kerry Blue Terriers. My old girl is
almost 14. The younger dog and I have done therapy work with the St. John's

I understand that my Grandfather used to raise Greyhounds in his younger years. I have a
picture of him, his wife and a Greyhound. This must have been
back in the 20's or 30's. Beautiful animal. I would love to adopt one, but
currently have no fenced in yard. If I got one, it would be an in-house dog and would be
very much pampered. I live alone and work everyday. Leaving this pet alone worries me.
Any suggestions? I hear they are very even tempered and very loving. I have printed out
the manual for Greyhounds and am currently reading it. Any place near Oklahoma that has Greyhounds
to adopt?

I have a 5 year old female named Katie. She is a wonderful addition to our home. I highly recommend adoption to anyone! We travel to visit family in central Massachusetts several times a year and wonder if there are any greyhound families with a fenced yard who would be willing to board her so she can join the rest of her family on the trip. I would love to start a travel service so greyhounds can find comfortable homes wherever their two legged families go?!?

Have been considering adoption for years. I am a true sucker for an animal in need. I have a blind cocker spaniel that wandered up to my home a year and a half ago, a calico cat no one wanted, and a deaf kitten my sister rescued. I also have a seven year old son who is extremely good with animals. He has no choice. Mom has taught him well. Can a greyhound live with us? This was a great site. I got more information than I have in years. Thanks.
