Flea Control

From GPA Trax, Kathy Morrill, editor

It won't be long before the calls start coming in asking for help with the yearly flea invasion. When buying a spray or shampoo, read the labels carefully. The only safe things to use are those containing pyrethrins with no toxic chemicals added. If the label says the product is safe for puppies and kittens you should be okay.

Spray your dog outside, if possible, keeping the spray away from eyes and mucus membranes. You really need to wet the dog with the spray until the fleas start coming out for air. Use a flea comb to capture all the escaping fleas. It usually takes about three days in a row of using this method to get rid of them.

On the third day, bomb your house if the fleas have really taken over. (make sure to get your birds out first!)
