"WINGS FOR GREYHOUNDS, INC," is a 501 (c)(3) corporation formed in 1996 specifically to assist all greyhound rescue organizations with any greyhound transportation needs they may have. We are based at the Van Nuys airport in Los Angeles using volunteer flightcrews and aircraft, and are flying throughout the South Western states. As of this time we fly primarily in Arizona and California, but we are open to any requests for flights.

Due to current equipment limitations we can fly two greyhounds, possibly 3 on any one trip. We will soon be out fundraising with a goal of getting an
airplane which will enable us to handle between four and six Greyhounds per trip. Then we will be in a position to offer more help when and where it's needed. All trips are flown with a pilot and a co-pilot/Greyhound caretaker to provide the most comfortable and secure trip possible to the animals. Using the airplane we can cut long road trips down to a few short hours. We charge no fees for this service and all our funding comes from donations and sponsorship.

If you are inolved in Greyhound rescue and would like to talk to us, call (818)769-9248 or email
Maggie McCurry. A descriptive brochure and dedicated website are in the works and will be available within the next couple of weeks.

Internet Resources

Greyhound Rescue-L is an internet mailing list dedicated to adoption groups and rescue operations.

Please make sure that your group is listed properly in our Agency Directory. We will also be happy to provide links to your web page and/or include an e-mail address.

No web page yet? We'd be happy to get you wired!

Just
send us the text and any graphics you would like to include and we'll be happy to post them. We'd like to keep the focus on promoting your group and its activities. Due to time and disk space constraints, please don't include information that will require an update every month and please keep the page size fairly small. Please keep in mind that this is not a pro- or anti-racing forum; We reserve the right to edit / remove any objectionable material. OK, enough of the DON'Ts! Here are a few examples of pages that I have set up: GPA-Maryland, Greyhound Rescue, Inc., National REGAP Network and NJGAP.

Want something a little more substantial or that you can maintain yourself? Most smaller Internet Service Providers are happy to donate or provide deep discounts on web sites for non-profit groups.
